This is working as intended. Remember that there is an automated broker in between you and the seller. The broker will look for the best price it can get to fulfill your order.
Take this as a lesson that there is no reason to pay more than necessary for anything. |

But I want to pay! If I could I would kick such broker in the teeth! What stops me from buying a identical, costlier product if I want to support the producer instead of going for the cheapest possible alternative?
Besides - why do we have market details integrated into the shopping window if we can't choose who do we buy from anyway? This should be separated into a separate tab atleast, so that the market players could look up prices and such, and we ordinary shoppers wouldn't have to trouble our head with details since we can't choose who we give our hard earned iskies anyway.
And you did pay exactly what you wanted to. If you want to support a producer, you should arrange a mutually beneficial relationship with a producer. I'm sure that if you want to pay more than market, you can find someone who is willing to accommodate that.
Market Details is there to allow you to provide you with additional information when making your marketeering decisions. If you don't want to be bothered with all than information you can just look at the Group tab and see the best price within the range you specify.
You can give your hard earned ISK to whomever you like. In fact the market interface lets you decide how much to pay and where to pay it. With contracts you can support your favorite producer at whatever price you like, even with something other than ISK.

The information in the market details screen is probably intended to be useful for seeing price and inventory trends for a product based on location rather than giving anyone a choice of who to buy from.
